All she's ever known is the comfort she got from her "kitty" and her thumb. She associates the two. The two go hand in hand.
The first two nights were the toughest...I crawled into bed with her and held her....until 3:00 a.m. and then 2:30 a.m., before crawling back into the warmth and comfort of my own bed. The third night she cried....and cried....but stayed up so late that she was able to fall asleep quickly....and on her own. Last night didn't seem to be too difficult....maybe it was us sitting up together (late again) and relaxing in front of a movie. Tonight...was a little tougher....she cried again. I surrounded her with her stuffies and I'm hoping that by now she's crashed...I'm too scared to go and check on her.
Another thing that's changed....her "kitty" (who she's had since she was 6 months old) is being left on her bed...all day now. That thing went everywhere with her. She told me from the start that she puts the smell of her "kitty" and her thumb sucking, "hand in hand".
It's time she got over this "habit" but....it's still so hard to see how hard it is for her. You should see her dad.
Gardening, planting, bbq'ing, paperwork, visiting, laundry, cuddling...it just didn't end this weekend.
Krystina is adjusting to her new "addition" and while her speech was the "worst for wear" today...she's eating "regular" food and tonight...will be the fourth night she will go to bed without her thumb, since her "existence" (and I say that because I have an ultrasound picture of her sucking her thumb!)....hopefully it'll be out second night of me not sleeping with her!
The weather was incredibly warm, until today...so I totally enjoyed the cool breeze and cloudy skies...tomorrow may be another story, although I hear we're in for a bit of a summer storm...gotta love those!
I rented "The Changeling" today...not that I'll be able to watch it. Seems like the old version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" have won over my desires. Oh wait...it's over now...apparently I am "allowed" to watch my show now.
Tomorrow is another work day, another summer school day, another "boring day" (for the girl)...another gym day for me too.
Very happy with the progress made around the house/garden this weekend...it seems as though I'm at a happy medium right now, as far as work/house/family goes...
Krystina hd her "appliance" put in today. It's been the longest 8 hours of her/my life. She continues to break down in tears and it appears that I'll be spending the evening with her, in her bed. She can't speak or eat properly (this will come in time) and she's sad and grumpy and...just plain blah. She says today is "the hardest day of her life"....tomorrow will be easier..I hope. It's an awful thing in her mouth...it breaks my heart (ha! you should see her dad!).
So it's Tony's birthday today...46 and counting. This is the first year in 20 years that I've been able to surprise him!! He got himself a beautiful 23" HD monitor...I haven't seen him since the ice cream cake...which was at 7:00 pm...it's now 9:30.
My dad went around the block with Al. A man working on the gardening of a house that recently sold said "hello"...and then said "oh, you have problems with your leg?". He then went on and on about how he had problems with his leg as well, until he started taking this certain supplement...Aleks picked up on it right away and asked, "was it "Kyani"?" And it most certainly was!! I kidd you not folks... I just have to get the approval for the "grapefruit seed extract" (my dad is taking medication that disallows him eating grapefruits)...and he's off and rolling. Too cool!!!
When I went to get the mail today at noon...I found a special surprise. It wasn't live (thank goodness) but it was mighty big and limp!! A complete coil of the yummiest smelling "sausage"....it wasn't until 5 p.m. that I figured out who dropped it off. Trust me...many thoughts were going through my brain! Including "poisoning". But alas...all is good and the sausage is now safe and stiff in the fridge!
It seems it just never fails. I finally get over something or other and am ready to get myself back into the groove....and then something else comes up. In this case, it was the removal of stitches from my leg. I figured the party/bbq was done, along with all the prep work and now I was ready to get back into the gym. Well.....
Last week I noticed a couple of days that I felt "cold". I walked around in my Boston "hoodie" trying to keep warm...meanwhile everyone else was dying of heat stroke (not quite literally, but you get the jist). Then the day of the bbq/party, I noticed my throat felt weird...not "raw" like you'd expect with strep throat or even just a regular plain old "sore throat"....it was weird....hurt like hell to sneeze and felt uncomfortable swallowing. Then last night I wake up with what felt like a blockage in my throat...again, not really "raw pain"...just pain. I don't know if my body's trying to keep it together and not let itself succumb to a full blown flu (could be due to the Kyani I'm taking) or if it's just going to teeter like this for a few days and then disappear. Regardless....I'm not about to risk it by going to the gym and ending up sick for 2 weeks like I did earlier this year....I can't afford the time off!
Teddy has started summer school...great day for it...the weather was lousy. Tomorrow I'm off to clients, but I did manage to get a bunch of stuff done today...which always makes for a "good feeling".
So tonight was Krystina's birthday party/our annual bbq. It was a couple of weeks in the making and I think....turned out just great!
Um, so let's see...it's 1:30 a.m. and I'm still awake..."why is that, you ask?"...probably because I have 5 girls still wide awake, singing and dancing to the "Jonas Brothers"....please help me! They will sleep...tomorrow...right? Of course I have to be up by 8 in order to feed them pancakes (with chocolate chips) and sausages. We had burgers, hot dogs, brat wurst, carmelized onions, chicken legs, caesar salad, potato salad, jalapeno peppers stuffed with feta....just to name a few. Beer, wine, pop, ice tea...did I mention it was stinking hot!? A pinata was beaten to the ground...just to deliver sweetness to all the good boys and girls. The cake was yummy. We only had one mishap...a dear lady (mom of a friend) had fallen off her chair (no, she wasn't drunk) and hurt her arm....oh, and the citronella candles that started to burn my flower garden edging...a severe safety issue! I have a fabulous bite on the back of my leg....I think I got bit by a horse fly! Clean up is mostly done...except for my living room...which is where these girls are sleeping....eventually.
Anyways...it was busy, intense, fun, great, a memory for Krystina and damn hot! Oh and did I mention??????...my throat is sore...has been all day....and now my nose is plugging up....great....just what I needed....especially in this heat. Can I go to sleep now? Not likely huh? Okay....I'll catch up tomorrow.
